Well, that was grueling. Way longer than expected.
I'm beyond happy to report that Melody is OK. The oncologist has confirmed that
it was indeed ovarian cancer, but there is no evidence of any spread beyond the
abdomen, and she was able to get everything she could find out. That included
cervix, uterus, tubes and ovaries and some lymph nodes. There's also an organ
that I cannot remember the name of [ed. the omentum] between that
area and the small intestine that came out.
Some of the large intestine had to come out as well, but it was sewn up
successfully. She did not need an ostomy. She received blood and may need more
later.
Depending on how she does, she could be out of the hospital within 3 or 4 days,
but it may be longer and she may need more blood.
I'm on my way to see her now. A kind recovery nurse offered to sneak me in after
hours.
Thanks for your patience and love!
Whew!
